Sneak Peek into 2013

Happy New Year! What a nice, long vacation! Hope you enjoyed time together and had a great break! Now it's back to our routine! We have a lot to learn. 

Here is a sneak peek into the next few weeks together! 

Reading- Components of non-fiction: Identifying non-fiction vs. fiction texts and the parts that make up these genres. Identifying Main idea vs. minor details and exploring a topic of our choice.
-Wrap up: Non-Fiction bat book clubs.

Writing-All about writing/Non-fiction- Topic of choice from research.
Revisit- small moment story from vacation and toy reviews to wrap up our persuasive writing mini-unit.

Spelling- ING pattern and phonics dance chunk. Continued exposure to previously taught words and application into our writing.

Math- Continue our unit on geometry: shapes 2D & 3D shapes. Continued practice with fact fluency (+/-)

Science- Balance & Motion inquiry unit- Exploring our questions & discussing our findings supported by our hands-on experiences and investigation.

** We will be starting Scientist of the Week next week! Students will be chosen at random to participate if they choose. Scientists will choose one experiment to practice and share with our class each Friday. Students will have the weekend and week following to prepare. More info. will come home in your child's APE book when your child is selected. Thanks for your support with this!
