Mystery Book Clubs!

We recently started mystery book clubs as a way to get excited about a new genre. I noticed an interest when we read The Mystery of the Dinosaur Bones, a Cam Jansen series during our Geology unit. We are reading a variety of different series from A-Z Mysteries, Calendar Club and of course Cam Jansen! We have enjoyed keeping track of clues, making predictions and acting as active detectives in our own cases. Working effectively with a partner can be hard work, but we have done a nice job taking turns and keeping each other accountable for tracking our thinking to deepen our comprehension. We enjoy taking part in whole group shares to "debrief" and share the secrets of our cases... we take these discussions very seriously--- in fact, they are "top-secret." Ask us about our cases!
