Questioning

Good readers think carefully as they read. When do readers as questions? ALL the time! Before, during & after reading. Although we are always wondering and asking questions in 2nd grade we have begun asking questions specifically while we read. Asking questions helps us interact with our books at a deeper level. This engagement helps us build reading comprehension and requires us to think more deeply about the characters and events in our books. We have been practicing asking questions before we start reading during whole group instruction and have practiced this in our reading partnerships.
