Bats, Bats and more bats

As many know, we have spent a lot of time studying bats. When we began our unit we debated about the question of: Are bats are considered birds? We had mixed feelings on this idea. After all, birds and bats both fly... In the end, although bats and birds do have some things in common, we came to the conclusion that bats are not birds. In this activity we worked together to sort learned facts about bats and birds. We have been doing a lot of work using venn diagrams to help compare in different ways. When we finished we completed our own sort to reinforce the information we already knew. We did a great job working together as a team and discussing why we thought certain facts belonged in bats, birds or the both category.
