Thick and Thin Questions

We have been working on asking questions. Good readers ask questions before, during, and after their reading. We had partner book clubs to help us practice asking questions and more specifically asking Thick and Thin questions. Here we are sorting our questions into Thick and Thin categories. A Thick question is a question that the reader has to really think deeply about, apply what they know about the story and search for an answer. Example: How did Sam feel when his dog ran away? A Thin question is a question that is usually a who, what, where type question that can easily be found in the book. Example: What did Sam do for a job? We have read several stories to help us practice asking thick and thin questions and will continue this throughout the year.
