Sneak Peek into our Week

We have a busy week ahead... 

• Reading: Visualizing/Creating mental images as we read. 
• Comparing mental images... what makes our mental images different?
• Fix-it up strategies: Word attack: What to do when you come to a tricky word. Don't let it win! Try stretchy snake, chunky monkey, lips the fish to help. (Please reinforce this at home with strategy card sent home)
• Wild side of pets book clubs: Cats, dogs, birds, snakes, guinea pigs, gerbils

• Writing: Continuing small moment stories: Watermelon stories vs. seed stories.

• Science: A Tree is Nice... Writing tree stories & continuing to study trees. 
• Inquiry: Why do leaves change colors? Does this happen everywhere?

• Social Studies: Wrap up pet unit. What did we learn? What do pets need to survive? 
• Begin study of China: Examine artifacts. What do we know/ want to know about China? 

• Math: Finishing unit 2 on addition & subtraction strategies, fact families & doubles facts: Math assessment this week!
