Learning about Character Traits

Last week, we began to think deeply about the characters in our stories. Through read-alouds and independent practice, we explored character traits. We worked hard to listen closely to our reading, thinking about the words and actions of our characters. With this, we were able to think of words to describe our characters. We could even provide evidence as to why we thought our characters were "silly" or "kind"!

We used the Kevin Henkes' book Chester's Way to explore character traits. We looked particularly at the characters of Chester and Lilly. In the coming weeks, we will continue to use Kevin Henkes' books, as well as other character building books, to explore how characters change throughout a story. Stay tuned for an update of our character explorations!

This isn't the first time we have used a Kevin Henkes' book - they are a hit with the kids! If you're looking for character and friendship building books or some of his other hits, check them out here!
