Scientist of the Week Ethan

Ethan performed a neat experiment that reminded us a lot of a lava lamp. He used oil, food coloring and alka-seltzer to get this effect. Because oil and water do not mix the oil traveled to the top while the water, which was less dense, sunk to the bottom. Once the oil and water separated Ethan added the food coloring and alka-seltzer then we watched colored bubbles travel up the bottle and back down. It was so cool! We tried adding an extra color to see if the bubbles would combine and change color. Awesome job Ethan!
