Learning about Sound!

What better way to kick off our unit on sound than through the school wide West African drumming experience we had! We had the opportunity to hear the sounds of world famous drummers, Carla Pomprowicz and Bolokada Conde. We could NOT stop talking about it-- so awesome! After the drumming we jumped right into our investigations! Through collaborative experiences we have engaged in hands-on observations to help us develop conclusions based on evidence from our findings! We have engaged in accountable talk to help us share our discoveries with each other and build our knowledge base in this area. Ask us about some of these new vocabulary words and how they relate to sound: High pitch, low pitch, soft, loud, vibration, waves echo.

We are excited to apply this knowledge into creating our own instruments out of recycled materials. If you have any items you think could be helpful, please send them in!
-Cans
-Glass/Plastic Bottles
-Rubber bands
-Beads/beans, seeds
-Paper towel rolls
-Tissue boxes.... anything your imagination can dream of!

Looking forward to sharing more of our learning with you!
